How to Add 2019 Track Mode & GTLM Displays to C7 Corvettes (2014–2018)

C7 Corvette cluster upgrade to 2019 GTLM-style Track Mode display for 2016–2018 models

Owners of 2014–2018 Chevrolet Corvette (C7) models often want access to the 2019 Track Mode and GTLM digital cluster displays, which offer enhanced performance pages, improved graphics, and expanded driver data compared to earlier clusters.

This Tech Note explains:

  • Which C7 model years are eligible
  • What the 2019 Track / GTLM cluster upgrade provides
  • How 2014–2015 vehicles can also be upgraded
  • Why CarPlay and steering wheel control support are required for full OEM behavior

What Is the 2019 Track / GTLM Cluster Update?

Beginning in later C7 production years, GM introduced updated Track Mode and GTLM cluster layouts that provide:

  • Expanded performance data screens
  • Updated tachometer and speed display layouts
  • Enhanced track-focused pages
  • Improved readability and visual hierarchy

Supported Vehicles

Direct Compatibility

  • 2016 Chevrolet Corvette (C7)
  • 2017 Chevrolet Corvette (C7)
  • 2018 Chevrolet Corvette (C7)

These vehicles can receive the 2019 Track / GTLM cluster upgrade directly with our custom cluster programming.

2014–2015 C7 Compatibility (Important)

2014–2015 C7 Corvettes require additional steps to achieve full OEM functionality when upgrading to a 2019-style cluster.

These early vehicles were built before GM introduced Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and updated projection control logic. As a result:

  • The cluster upgrade alone is not possible
  • Upgraded Cluster Hardware is required
  • Proper infotainment integration is required

Required for 2014–2015 Vehicles

To fully support the upgraded cluster and retain correct steering wheel behavior:

  1. OEM Apple CarPlay / Android Auto Upgrade Kit
  2. Instrument Cluster Upgrade programmed for projection support

When both upgrades are installed together:

  • Steering wheel audio and voice controls function correctly
  • Track Mode and GTLM pages behave as designed
  • OEM driver input logic is preserved

The Track Mode / GTLM update is an optional feature applied to the upgraded cluster once proper CarPlay and cluster support are in place.

Steering Wheel Controls & Projection Behavior

On early C7 models, steering wheel controls interact directly with the instrument cluster, not just the infotainment display.

Without the correct cluster configuration:

  • Track skip buttons may not function
  • Voice control behavior may be missing
  • Projection-related cluster screens may not appear correctly

WAMS cluster upgrades are engineered to maintain OEM steering wheel control behavior when paired with the appropriate infotainment hardware.

This topic is covered in detail in a dedicated Tech Note and is referenced here only as a dependency — not duplicated.

What This Upgrade Is — And Is Not

This Is:

  • A factory-correct OEM cluster upgrade
  • VIN-specific programming
  • Native Track Mode and GTLM displays
  • No aftermarket UI overlays
  • No screen mirroring or external devices

This Is Not:

  • A cosmetic overlay
  • A universal or aftermarket digital cluster

Summary

The 2019 Track Mode & GTLM cluster upgrade allows 2014–2018 C7 Corvettes to gain later-model performance displays using OEM-correct GM hardware.

  • 2016–2018 models can upgrade directly
  • 2014–2015 models require CarPlay and cluster upgrades together
  • Steering wheel controls and projection behavior depend on correct cluster configuration
  • Track Mode updates are optional features applied to supported clusters

This approach preserves factory behavior, reliability, and integration — without shortcuts.
