Description
Picked up a used or salvage XM satellite radio module for your GM vehicle, only to find it’s locked to another VIN? This service is the solution.
GM’s XM/Sirius satellite radio modules are VIN-locked from the factory. When a module is pulled from one vehicle and installed in another — whether from a salvage yard, a private seller, or an online listing — it will not function correctly until it’s re-VIN’d to the new vehicle. Without this step, the module remains locked and the radio will not activate properly.
What this service does:
Our WAMS XM Module Unlock service re-VIN’s your used, salvage, or otherwise locked XM module to your specific vehicle. Once programmed to your VIN, the module operates as though it was always factory-installed in your car — clean, correct, and ready for satellite radio activation through XM/Sirius.
Compatibility:
This service covers XM modules used across a wide range of GM vehicles. It is not compatible with 2010+ Global A platform vehicles (Silverado, Sierra, Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, and related models from that generation forward), which use a different module architecture. If you’re unsure whether your vehicle qualifies, contact us with your year, make, and model before ordering.
Important:
Please double-check that the VIN you enter at checkout is correct. The module will be programmed specifically to that VIN — if the VIN is entered incorrectly, the unit will remain locked and reprogramming will be required.
This is a ship-in service. Ship us the module, we program it and return it to you.
