Description

A failing body control module (BCM) on an older GM vehicle shows up as lights, locks and gauges with a mind of their own, a no-start, a battery that won’t hold overnight, or a security light that won’t go out. This is a brand-new GM BCM that we program to your VIN and factory options before it leaves our shop, so it arrives ready to install.

It covers the GMT900 generation of full-size trucks and SUVs (2007-2014 Silverado, Sierra, Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, Avalanche and Escalade), the Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana vans from 2008 through 2026, the Hummer H2, and a long list of Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac, Pontiac and Saturn cars and crossovers built before GM moved to the Global A architecture.

Pre-programmed BCM: what’s done before it ships, and what’s left for you

We load your vehicle’s VIN and its original factory configuration into the new module and test it before shipping. Two short procedures remain once it’s installed, because they have to be done in the vehicle:

  • Brake pedal position (BPP) sensor relearn. Teaches the new BCM the released position of your brake pedal sensor.
  • SDM key relearn. Pairs the new BCM with the airbag module (SDM) so the airbag system and the vehicle accept each other.

Until both are done, expect the vehicle not to start and the dash to show warning lights and stored codes. That’s normal. Most mid-level scan tools can run both procedures, so an independent shop or an experienced owner can finish the job without a dealer.

Standard orders are programmed to factory configuration. If your vehicle has been modified (an engine or transmission swap, options added or removed, a conversion) or you want settings that differ from factory, contact us before you order and we’ll quote the custom programming. Feature changes on a BCM that still works are a separate service: see our 2007-2014 truck and SUV custom BCM programming.

Which older GM vehicles use this BCM

Everything below uses a module that looks the same as the one in our photos, with seven connectors. Check yours against the photos before ordering. The exact GM part we program is chosen from your VIN, so you don’t need to match part numbers.

GM part numbers this BCM replaces

Look for the number on the label of your old module. GM replaced these numbers many times, and we ship the current one for your VIN.

2014 trucks and SUVs: check your body style

The 2014 model year is split. Heavy duty 2014 pickups (2500HD and 3500HD) and the 2014 Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon and Escalade are still GMT900 and take this BCM. The 2014 Silverado 1500 and Sierra 1500 are the newer K2 truck and need our Global A replacement BCM.

Which GMT900 part you get. GM built two versions of this truck and SUV module: one for 2007-2011 and one for 2012-2014. Your VIN tells us which, and the photos look the same.

2007 Silverado and Sierra: new body or Classic? GM sold the 2007 Silverado and Sierra pickups in two bodies. The new GMT900 body takes this BCM. The 2007 “Classic” carried over the previous truck, uses an older module that GM no longer supplies new, and isn’t covered. The VIN doesn’t separate them, so look at the truck: if your 2007 looks like a 2003-2006 Silverado or Sierra inside and out, it’s a Classic. Every 2007 Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, Escalade and Avalanche is the new body.

Vehicles this BCM does not fit

  • 2014 and newer Silverado 1500 and Sierra 1500, 2015 and newer HD pickups and SUVs: see our Global A replacement BCM.
  • 2014 and newer Chevrolet Impala (the redesigned car, not the Impala Limited), 2010 and newer Equinox, Terrain and SRX, and the Buick LaCrosse and Regal: also on the Global A BCM page.
  • 2007 Silverado Classic and Sierra Classic pickups, and earlier GM trucks and SUVs.
  • 2007 and older Express and Savana vans: no single body control module was used on these.
  • Export models and vehicles sold outside North America.

Where the BCM is, and what to rule out first

On these vehicles the BCM sits inside the dash, generally on the driver’s side. Getting to it usually means removing lower dash trim, so it’s worth confirming the module is actually at fault before you start.

The BCM runs lighting, locks, the security system, wipers, power management and more, so a bad ground, a failed switch, a blown fuse or a weak battery can look exactly like a BCM failure. Get a diagnosis from a GM dealer or a trusted technician first. Each module is special order, programmed to the VIN on your order and warranty-registered to it, so it is non-returnable.

Orders usually ship within the posted processing time. For the full picture on cost, read what a GM BCM replacement costs.

Why order a new, pre-programmed BCM from WAMS

Every BCM on this listing is new GM hardware, never used, salvage or refurbished, with GM’s factory warranty. A used BCM still carries the VIN and security data of the vehicle it came out of, so it won’t work in yours until someone reprograms it, and you inherit whatever heat, water or voltage damage it already took. Ours comes programmed and tested, with no core charge and nothing to send back. We have specialized in GM electronics for more than 20 years and program every module at our shop in Wixom, Michigan. Repair shops, dealers and locksmiths order the same way.

Questions about pre-programmed GM BCMs for GMT900 trucks, vans and older GM cars

Are these really brand new? The price is similar to used ones I’ve seen.

Yes. Every BCM on this listing is brand-new GM hardware with GM’s factory warranty, never pulled from another vehicle. Given the age of these platforms, GM may eventually supply some of these modules only as factory refurbished, and we’ll update this page if that happens.

Do these units come programmed?

Yes. Each BCM is programmed to your VIN and factory options before it ships. After installation you still need to run a brake pedal position (BPP) relearn and an SDM key relearn.

Does it require professional programming after installation?

No dealer programming is needed. The module arrives programmed to your VIN and factory options. You only need a brake pedal position relearn and an SDM key relearn, which most mid-level scan tools can do.

Do I need to visit a dealer to install or after installation?

No. The BCM arrives programmed for your vehicle’s factory content. The BPP and SDM key relearns can be done at most competent repair shops, at a GM dealer, or at home with a capable scan tool.

Can you custom program this BCM for my application or for changes I’ve made to my vehicle?

Possibly. By default, every BCM is programmed to your VIN’s original factory configuration. If your vehicle has been modified (engine or drivetrain swaps, added or removed options, conversions, aftermarket equipment) or you need settings that differ from factory, contact us before ordering. We’ll review your request, tell you what can be done and quote the custom programming. Please don’t place a standard order expecting custom programming, because standard orders are programmed to factory configuration only.

How do I confirm this product fits my vehicle?

Find your BCM and check that it physically matches the unit in our photos, including its seven connectors. Don’t worry about the part number: we supply the correct current number for your VIN. If your BCM doesn’t look exactly like ours, don’t order this one. Contact us and we’ll review it.

Why won’t my vehicle start after I install the new BCM?

Until the BPP relearn and the SDM key relearn are done, the vehicle may not start and will show warning lights and codes. Run both procedures and it should start normally.

Can I install it myself?

Yes, if you’re comfortable removing dash trim and have a scan tool that can run the two relearns. Otherwise any competent repair shop can do the install and the relearns.

Where is the BCM located?

In the dash, generally on the driver’s side. Lower dash trim usually has to come off to reach it.

Which BCM does a 2014 Silverado take?

A heavy duty 2014 Silverado or Sierra (2500HD or 3500HD) takes this BCM. A 2014 Silverado or Sierra 1500 is the newer K2 truck and needs our Global A replacement BCM.

Is there a different BCM for 2007-2011 and 2012-2014 trucks?

Yes. GM used one version on 2007-2011 GMT900 trucks and SUVs and another on 2012-2014. They look the same, and your VIN tells us which one to send.

Does this BCM fit a 2007 Silverado Classic or Sierra Classic?

No. The 2007 Classic pickups carried over the previous body and use an older module that GM no longer supplies new. Only the new-body 2007 Silverado and Sierra take this BCM.

Does this BCM fit the Express and Savana vans?

Yes. It fits the 2008-2026 Express and Savana 2500 and 3500, and the 2008-2014 1500 and AWD vans, in passenger, cargo, cutaway and chassis cab form.

Are these used, salvage, or core parts like others online?

No. Every BCM on this listing is brand-new GM, never used, salvage or refurbished.

Is there a core charge? Do I need to return my old BCM?

No core charge and no return required. Please recycle your old module responsibly.

The bag was opened when I received my unit. Is that normal?

Yes. Some units come from GM in sealed bags, but we open every module to program and test it before shipping.

Will this fix the issue I’m having?

Possibly, but we can’t diagnose your vehicle remotely. The BCM controls many systems, and other faults can cause the same symptoms. Have the vehicle diagnosed before ordering, because each module is programmed and registered to your VIN and is non-returnable.

  1. ericpowers (verified owner) –

Shop told me they could not source a new BCM for my 2014 Yukon anymore and tried to sell me a used one with no warranty. I ordered this instead. It’s clearly a fresh OEM module and it fixed my no-start / security light issue. Worth every penny.

  2. mattnothardr (verified owner) –

BCM showed up brand new, not junkyard stuff. Plugged it into my 2013 Tahoe, truck fired right up and all the weird electrical gremlins (door chimes, HVAC acting up) were gone instantly. Programming was already matched to my VIN so I didn’t have to deal with a dealer. Exactly what I wanted.

  3. Jon A. (verified owner) –

Installed on my ’12 Suburban. Truck had random battery drains for months. This BCM fixed it. Programming was dead-on, no warning lights after install. Shipping was fast too.
