Description
Ghost touches, phantom inputs, self-scrolling menus, vertical lines, cracked glass, or a dark/dim display on your 8-inch MyLink or IntelliLink screen? This is a brand-new* OEM GM replacement 8-inch infotainment touchscreen / LCD assembly with controls for your 2014–2019 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra (K2 platform) equipped with IO5 or IO6 infotainment. It restores factory clarity, touch response, and operation, and installs as a direct, plug-and-play replacement.
When the original assemblies fail, the classic symptom is “ghost” or “phantom” inputs — the screen registering touches on its own. This includes the cluster/DIC randomly jumping to the media/audio menu, because a swipe gesture on this screen triggers that switch. Replacing the assembly resolves it.
Fitment
| Vehicle | Years (K2) | Infotainment | Backlight Color |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chevrolet Silverado 1500 | 2014–2018 | 8″ IO5 / IO6 | Blue / Green |
| Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LD (K2 carryover) | 2019 | 8″ IO5 / IO6 | Blue / Green |
| Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD / 3500HD | 2015–2019 | 8″ IO5 / IO6 | Blue / Green |
| GMC Sierra 1500 | 2014–2018 | 8″ IO5 / IO6 | Red (2014–2016) / Blue-Green (2017+) |
| GMC Sierra 1500 Limited (K2 carryover) | 2019 | 8″ IO5 / IO6 | Blue / Green |
| GMC Sierra 2500HD / 3500HD | 2015–2019 | 8″ IO5 / IO6 | Red (2015–2016) / Blue-Green (2017+) |
2019 note: The 2019 fit covers the K2 HD trucks and the 2019 K2 carryover 1500s — the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LD and GMC Sierra 1500 Limited. It does not fit the new-body 2019 T1 Silverado/Sierra 1500. If your 2019 has the redesigned body/interior, it’s a T1 and this is not your screen.
Backlight color — how to choose
The control backlight must match your factory dash lighting:
- Red — 2014–2016 GMC Sierra
- Blue / Green — 2017+ GMC Sierra and ALL Chevrolet Silverado (every year)
Important — Rear Seat Entertainment (RSE / RPO U42) trucks are NOT compatible
This is the standard (non-RSE) screen. The separate RSE/U42 variant is discontinued and no longer available — GM no longer produces it and we cannot source it.
If your truck is RSE-equipped (RPO U42), this standard screen will not work — it will not power on / turn on, and it is not the correct part for your vehicle. Do not order it for an RSE truck.
How to check: look for RPO code U42 on the RPO label in your glovebox. RSE-equipped trucks have a rear roof-mounted entertainment screen plus a front DVD/Blu-ray player. If that describes your truck, this listing is not for you.
Installation & programming
Plug-and-play on supported K2 trucks — no dealer visit and no programming required. Most installs take 15–20 minutes with a nylon pry tool to release the bezel. This assembly does not participate in any security or Theft Lock routines, so if you are chasing a Theft Lock issue, this is not the part you need.
What’s included / not included
- Included: OEM 8-inch display / touch assembly with the physical hard-key controls, as pictured.
- Not included: HMI module or radio/ACM module — your existing HMI and radio stay in place.
Before you order
Please have your vehicle properly diagnosed to confirm the screen assembly is the failed part before purchasing — these are non-returnable. Every unit is opened and bench-tested prior to shipping to confirm proper operation and function.
*Due to the age of the platform, some part numbers are no longer in production. Those orders are filled with GM Factory refurbished units carrying the same GM warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is this a genuine GM screen?
A: Yes — this is an OEM GM display assembly with controls as shown.
Q: Which trucks does it fit?
A: 2014–2019 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra on the K2 platform with the 8-inch IO5 or IO6 system. The 2019 fit covers K2 HD trucks and the 2019 K2 carryover 1500s (Silverado 1500 LD / Sierra 1500 Limited) — not the new-body 2019 T1 trucks.
Q: Will it work on my 7-inch IOB radio?
A: No — this is for the 8-inch IO5/IO6 systems only.
Q: Do I need programming after install?
A: No — installation is plug-and-play on supported K2 trucks.
Q: Does this include the HMI or radio module?
A: No — this listing is the screen/touch assembly only. Your existing HMI and radio remain in place.
Q: Which backlight color do I choose?
A: Red for 2014–2016 GMC Sierra; Blue/Green for 2017+ GMC Sierra and all Chevrolet Silverado.
Q: I have Rear Seat Entertainment (RSE / RPO U42) — will this work?
A: No. The RSE/U42 screen is a different part and is discontinued / no longer available. This standard screen will not power on or function in an RSE-equipped truck. Do not order it for an RSE vehicle.
Q: How do I know if I have RSE?
A: Check the RPO label in your glovebox for code U42. RSE-equipped trucks have a rear roof-mounted screen and a front DVD/Blu-ray player.

Stop looking around the internet and buy this!
I normally don’t write reviews, but I felt compelled in this case.
I have a 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT and was experiencing the Intellilink system problems most people are describing here. I looked around the internet for months, read tons of review, watched videos, etc… Finally pulled the trigger on this. So glad I did!
Received the unit in less than a week. Installation was one of the easiest things I’ve ever done. Plug and play – didn’t have to reprogram anything. Would highly suggest buying a cheap nylon pry tool to pop off the bezel (got a kit on Amazon for $8). New unit works like brand new – for about half the cost a dealership would charge.
Hope this helps.

I was having a problem with my 2015 Silverado Infotainment Screen. It was ghosting. Would change the SiriusXM screen to the guide and then go into Seek mode, switching between channels on its own. It would also change the DIC on the dashboard and show the XM channel it was playing. In navigation mode, it would divert to other screens nearby your location and take you off your route. Crazy stuff. At first I thought maybe it was the HMI but after reading other reviews and Q&A’s, I was pretty sure it was the Infotainment Screen. Appears it was. The part arrived in a GM OEM box and packed extremely well in formed foam padding. It took every bit of 15 minutes to change this out after watching a couple of youtube videos. It’s been working flawlessly for a few weeks now. So glad I found WAMS! Many thanks!!

I purchased the 8″ screen to upgrade from the 4″. Glad I went with WAMS. Screen arrived quickly, fair price & was easy to install. I would definitely buy from them again.

Just got this replacement because my radio screen was glitching between stations and screens and became very distracting when driving down the road, not only did this fix the problem but it also help make the Apple Carplay/Android Auto work 100% better and smoother. Also makes the truck feel brand new again. This company is amazing and well worth the price of the unit! Highly recommend!

My part came about a week after placing the order. It was brand new and packaged securely. Unfortunately, I still had the same issue of the radio not working with no display or sound. Wish there was a way to recoup some of the money spent, but I understand their policy.

My Screen was giving me nightmares, jumping around on the stations and navigation like it was possessed. In 15 minutes I installed the new screen module and all my problems were solved.

After driving my 2015 Silverado LTZ for two years with a flaky touchscreen, I bought a supposedly working used unit online and quickly discovered the fallacy in trusting sellers who really have no clue what they’re selling. Got my money back and bought a new genuine replacement from WAMS and it worked perfectly; unlike the failed attempt with the used unit. Only took 20 minutes from start to finish to replace the defective original unit with this new unit. Simple and easy to do after watching a few YT videos. Fingers crossed the new units have a longer lifespan than the originals. Will definitely use WAMS should the need arise in the future.
