This is a brand-new OEM GM replacement 8 inch touch screen and control assembly for the 2015-2020 Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet Suburban, GMC Yukon and GMC Yukon XL (K2 platform) with IO5 or IO6 infotainment. It restores factory clarity and touch response and installs as a direct, plug-and-play replacement.
When the original assembly fails, the classic symptom is the screen registering touches on its own. That includes the instrument cluster jumping to the audio menu without you touching anything, because a swipe on this screen is what triggers that switch. Replacing the entire assembly resolves it as many times the controller fails as well as the digitizer portion.
This is the front screen in the center of the dash, with the physical buttons around it. It is not a rear entertainment screen. The screens in the roof or seatbacks are a separate system.

You do not pick the backlight color. The vehicle picker works it out from the make and year you select, so the color cannot be ordered wrong. The one thing we ask you is whether the vehicle has rear seat entertainment.
Not covered: Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV at any year (the Escalade uses CUE and a completely different screen), any 2021 or later Tahoe, Suburban or Yukon, and the Silverado and Sierra pickups, which have their own 8 inch screen listing. This screen is for the 8 inch IO5 and IO6 systems only. If your vehicle has the 4 inch IO3/4 radio, this is not your part.
Important: Rear Seat Entertainment (RPO U42) decides which screen you need
GM built this screen in two versions: a standard control and one for vehicles with rear seat entertainment. They are different parts, not different settings, and the wrong one will not work. This is the one question the vehicle picker asks, so please check before you answer.
How to check on the label: find the SPID label in your glove box and look for these RPO codes. U42 means rear seat entertainment. TG5 means the standard screen. You will see one code or the other, not both, so TG5 with no U42 confirms the standard screen.
How to check by looking: rear seat entertainment models have a screen in the roof or in the seatbacks, plus a disc player up front.
2015-2016 GMC Yukon and Yukon XL without rear seat entertainment: your buttons will light blue/green, not red
GM built this configuration with a red-backlit control. Every red control for it has since been discontinued by GM with no replacement part and no repair program, so there is none left to buy anywhere.
What we supply is the blue/green control. It fits, connects and works exactly the same and carries the same warranty. The only difference is the color the buttons light up at night against your red-lit dash. If that is acceptable, order as normal. The vehicle picker shows this same notice before you add the part to your cart. Nothing else is affected: every other vehicle on this page gets its factory backlight color.
Why the number on your old screen may not match
GM issued many part numbers for this screen across the 2015-2020 model years, and many of the older ones are now discontinued. The model year within 2015-2020 does not change which screen you need. Only rear seat entertainment does, plus the backlight color on a 2015-2016 Yukon or Yukon XL. We supply the correct GM control for your configuration, usually a newer number than the one on your original, so the part you receive may carry a different number. It is the correct replacement.
For 2015 and 2016 vehicles, GM did not formally supersede the early numbers into the current parts. We supply them on the basis of our own installation experience: newer hardware runs in older vehicles on this platform, and we fit it in 2015 and 2016 models routinely. The red rear seat entertainment control is catalogued by GM for 2016, and we supply it for 2015 Yukons on the same basis. Our pickup screen listing has always worked the same way.
Installation and programming
Plug and play: no programming and no dealer visit. Use a nylon trim tool to release the dash bezel. This assembly does not take part in any security or Theft Lock routine, so if you are chasing a Theft Lock problem, this is not the part you need.
