Description

**PLEASE NOTE THIS IS NOT A SERVICE FOR YOUR FACTORY HMI AND RADIO MODULES AS THEY ARE NOT CAPABLE OF CAR PLAY/ANDROID AUTO OPERATION. YOU MUST SOURCE NEW TO YOU MODULES (WHICH MAY BE NEW OR USED) FROM THE LIST BELOW OR CHOOSE FOR US TO PROVIDE YOU FACTORY NEW HARDWARE**

This service allows the newer version 2.5 HMI and Mating Radio modules to function properly in an older 2013-2015.5 IO5 / IO6 equipped GM vehicle to gain Apple Car Play and Android Auto. You can also utilize this service on an IO4 4″ equipped vehicle when utilizing a customer supplied 8″ screen. Swapping these modules out adds factory Apple Car Play / Android auto as well as the faster responsiveness the 2.5 HMI affords.

You  may choose to supply your own new to you hardware and save some money (Please confirm part numbers before ordering this service or any hardware with our “best practices” list below) OR we can supply a set of BRAND NEW (not factory seconds or used/salvage/second hand) units to you. If we supply the units they carry the full factory warranty as well as our limited warranty. THE MODULES CURRENTLY IN YOUR VEHICLE ARE NOT CAPABLE OF THIS UPGRADE. YOU CANNOT SHIP YOUR FACTORY MODULES IN FOR THIS SERVICE.

In addition to the HMI and proper mating Radio Module the only other thing you’ll need is a 2016+ USB hub that goes in your console to replace your non compatible older version. This is the USB module where you plug your devices into that has two ports and likely an SD Card reader these vary by console style. Generally the part number for this unit is 13519224 and can be found many different places online including Amazon. The new USB hub does not have an SD Card reader and there are no compatible hubs for this upgrade that have the SD Card Reader unfortunately.

Other modules outside of the “best practices” list may be able to be utilized but you may not get all of the features, have features that are not compatible with your vehicle or may hamper future upgrades. If you are truly unable to find any of the modules listed below drop us a line from the “Contact Us” tab with what part numbers you are able to locate and we can go through what (if any) detriments you may have. THE RADIO MODULE MUST MATCH YOUR VEHICLES AUDIO CONFIGURATION! If you have Bose you need a Bose/Premium Audio Unit, if you dont you need a Base unit. These are not interchangeable. If you are confused about which audio configuration please consult your RPO code label (generally in your glove box) and look for the codes listed under the radio portion of our fitment matrix to determine which you have.

WAMS does not recommend and will not participate in doing an HMI only upgrade as it would be missing basic features like voice directions for maps, siri etc. We recommend a minimum of a properly retrofit programmed HMI and Radio module. If you desire a full OEM proper Car Play/Android Auto experience you will need to replace the HMI, Radio AND Instrument Cluster (Or opt for our UDD cluster upgrade) to gain the use of steering wheel controls and Siri/Google voice commands otherwise you will be pressing the screen constantly; this is also a great time to consider a Denali Cluster upgrade.

If you have a 2016 that was built WITHOUT Car Play/Android auto please Click Here for a specific product just for those applications!

If you have a current XM radio subscription after installation you’ll need to contact them and update your account with your new Radio ID. You can find this on the module itself or by tuning to Channel 0 on the XM band.

If you are ordering a navigation HMI but do not have factory navigation please note you will need to provide a GPS antenna OR factory onstar signal splitter and cables; we can provide assistance sourcing these if need be.

Please make sure you disconnect the battery from the vehicle before reinstalling your freshly programmed modules. While not required this minimizes the possibility for damage or DTC’s.

About the optional Add Ons:
Map Update:
This is for Navigation HMI’s only to upgrade the Map Database to the Model Year data listed. Generally we always offer the most up to date available data.

Full HMI Unlock Programming: Adds a ton of useful features at a discounted price. Please Click Here for the full feature set of this awesome Add On!

Just got my new equipment today. installed it and it’s awesome. I now have a more updated system than before. The service they provide is amazing. It’s also much cheaper and better recommended than there competitors. Overall very pleased with the product and will be buying more upgraded parts for my 2014 Silverado

WOWZA! I just installed this kit (along with a Denali Cluster upgrade and USB port*) in my 2015 GMC Sierra and am blown away. The folks @ WAMS are total rockstars…answered my 15 million questions quickly and waited patiently as I gathered my funds…when I finally completed the purchase, turn around time was communicated upfront and everything arrived in less than a week! Admittedly, this upgrade wasn’t cheap, but well worth it. After reviewing a few YouTube videos (PGAMBOA) on the process of switching everything out, it was easy to complete the necessary steps. I couldn’t be more pleased with the service and product. NOTE: The Denali cluster can be sourced from WAMS, but the OEM USB port needs to be sourced elsewhere — I bought mine on eBay.

Fast service, just got the android auto update for my 2014 sierra, answered a ton of questions I had, sent them the modules, and had them back a week after I sent them off. Everything works great and I would recommend them to anyone.

cannot say enough about this company. made the mistake of dealing with an outfit in canada that i found on the forum. those shysters sold me used hardare and even after multiple issues kept trying to fix the hardware rather than just replacing it. for $50 more I got BRAND NEW units in the OEM packaging here and a full warranty. beware others trying to advertise based on price alone its not worth it.

The responsiveness and service WAMS provides is top notch. Emails answered in minutes, order received in less than a week and functionality upon installation was as advertised. After going without CarPlay in my 2015 Tahoe for a few years, this upgrade is heaven-sent. Did along with the Denali cluster upgrade and the two work together seamlessly. All features, including steering wheel controls, work as they should. Can’t recommend enough!

  6. Phillip White (verified owner)

I purchased this upgrade because I wanted the Radio Programming / Unlock Services. They have an installation video online that made the install go very quickly and easily and it was nice to get a first-hand look at the product in the video before purchasing.

I had to email them with a technical question and the support team at WAMS quickly responded back to me with an answer to all my questions. Everything was straight plug and play took me 25 minutes to do the complete install.

I highly recommend WAMS to anyone looking to upgrade their 2014 Chevy Silverado. – Phill in NJ.

When I bought my used 2015 tahoe with the 8″ screen I was disappointed to find out that it did not have andriod auto and further more that it was not something that I could go through the dealership to upgrade. After a little searching I found that WAMS provided exactly the service I was looking for at a reasonable price. I was able to source the parts needed for the upgrade on my own to save some money. Turn around time from the time I shipped the package to be programmed to the time I got it back was less than a week. Customer service at WAMS was always fast at getting back to me with my questions prior to the sale. Even after the sale they continued to respond to my questions extremely fast. Could not be happier to have android auto on my Tahoe. Thank you for providing this service. Would definitely recomend WAMS to anyone looking to upgrade to android auto / carplay.

I love this upgrade. I have had WAMS do a few things for me in the past and they have always been the best. I have even emailed them with questions, thinking it will be the next day before I get a reply, but they have responded within minutes. Will continue to use WAMS. ( saving up to get the Autosync)

I’ve been wanting to do this upgrade for a while since I was never a big fan of the factory navigation and couldn’t believe that it wasn’t simple upgrade that my local shop would perform. The product was shipped very fast with great packaging. Install was fairly easy after watching a few videos as suggested. The customer service of WAMS even after my purchase was amazing. Like others have stated, most of the time I was contacted with minutes of my emails. Would definitely recommend WAMS and look forward to future purchases.

Absolutely great!!! These guys know there stuff! I did a CarPlay upgrade with the full unlock for my 14 Silverado and works great!!! WAMS responds very quickly to any questions you have!!
    Thanks again guys!!!

One hundred percent satisfied!! As the owner of a 2015.5 Colorado, my oem radio did not support Apple CarPlay. Following the WAMS instructions, it only took about a week and a half for my system to be reprogrammed and returned. It was easy to find a reasonably priced radio and hmi from their preferred equipment list online. Installation is basic and takes between 30-45 minutes. All of my Colorado’s steering controls, as well as backup camera work without issue. I even gained HD radio in the process. I would recommend that the Colorado be listed as available for this upgrade as it is not specifically listed and is not a full-size pickup. Also, although GM used different part numbers, the required USB port listed for the Silverado is the same for the Colorado and is interchangeable. I absolutely recommend WAMS services.

2015 tahoe ltz. bought this upgrade for my wifes tahoe. i bought everything new from wams. the items were plug and play. i also upgraded her cluster to the denali cluster with hud option, and retrofitted the hud into her tahoe. everything works great the first time!

Upgraded my 2014 Silverado LTZ Radio and HMI. I had WAMS supply the new modules, you can’t beat the warranty they are giving to purchase from them, plus you get a 3 months trial of SirusXM when you activate the new radio. You never know if modules are good if you purchase from an online second-hand store. Opted for all the upgrades, was not disappointed. In my option, it was a great purchase. I had to purchase a wiring harness from the Harnessdr for the Rear Camera in Motion to work. I will have to save to upgrade my BCM next. A great option if you want that OEM look.

Great service, they have good turn arounds times and helpful with any question you might have! Got my upgrade and had installed in 30 min. Had a small hiccup but the guys at wams responded real fast and got it solved

SMOKING DEAL! I work for a dealer that WAMS services and purchased this upgrade and the denali cluster. The HMI/Radio are sold at dealer cost which is cheaper than even I can buy them from our parts department! Both units arrived in the OEM serialized packaging just as expected and were literally plug and play 10/10.

have to give credit where due white auto bailed me out big time. got conned by a company in another country for this same product. price was about the same except the other company sold me used parts and the radio was junk from the get go and the other company drug its feet and never fixed the issue. white auto sent the parts quickly in ac delco branded containers all brand new as detailed and they worked out of the box plug and play. only had one issue because i forgot to swap the usb hub but they diagnosed that in an email within a minute of me sending my inquiry and thats just how their customer service is!!!!!

Upgraded the radio and HMI in my 2014 Silverado. I had considered doing it for awhile, but when Indiana law changed to require hands free operation it forced me to go ahead and do it. I dont like mounts on my dash and always missed CarPlay in my truck. Used the GM Trucks forum and chatted with the team here on the site and they couldn’t have been more helpful. I considered buying the modules from them and they helped me weight the pros and cons. Ultimately, I rolled the dice on ebay after I found a few deals, but didnt change the level of customer service I received here which really says something about the company. They were still extremely helpful throughout and got my modules turned around quick. I couldn’t be happier with my transaction end to end and will be considering the Denali cluster in the future!

I wanted to Upgrade to the CarPlay, Android Auto Option that wasn’t available on the 2015 Regal. A Member at the Buick Regal Forum recommended White Automotive & Media Services.
I looked into the Upgrade and wasn’t very familiar with what all was involved. After a few Emails with the people from White Automotive I understood a little more of what was involved. I really wanted to keep all features that I already had with the Factory equipment but they explained I would be loosing a few small options and what they were. I was stubborn and wanted to keep my Factory Navigation and purchase the New 2020 Update for the Navigation.
If I would do this again I would definitely purchase New Modules from White instead of the all the Headaches I got looking for them on Ebay! I only saved a couple Hundred Dollars Sourcing them myself, but I laid awake many nights thinking about it because I could find the right parts. I did after about a month find the HMI and Radio Modules. Plus buying New, I would have had a 1 year warranty with White Automotive, I only have a month or two buying them on Ebay.
I sent the Modules on a Friday, June 5th at 3:33pm with UPS. I did insure them for $400 just in case. I received conformation on Saturday Morning at around 10:02am that they had been received at White Automotive. I received my Package back from White Automotive on Wednesday June 10th, around 5:30pm. This only took 5 days including the Delivery time, there and back! The next day I got started.
Had no Idea how much was involved in tearing apart the car (not White Automotive fault). I first disconnected the Battery of the Car, didn’t want to take any chances. White Automotive Recommends doing so but it’s not required. I then proceeded with Taking the Glove Compartment off (4 Screws) to install the Radio Module. I located the Radio Module and Unplugged all connections. I had to work a bit to remove the old module (had to tilt a little while pulling it upward). Installing it was just the reverse. I then moved on to the HMI. The HMI was a bit more difficult. Had to Remove Trim Pieces, some I had to pull on very hard. I was terrified the whole time, thinking I was going to break something! Had to Remove the Makeshift Ash Tray and Lighter, Heat/AC Controls, Touchscreen and the CD Player.
Finally found the HMI Module, unplugged all connection and removed the module. Reinstall the New HMI 2.5 plugging in all connections. I reinstalled all parts (CD Player, Touchscreen, Heat/AC Controls, etc…).

Once finished I hooked the battery back up under the hood, was all ready to go.
Almost forgot: Five days earlier I had Removed the Old USB Port w/SD Card Reader in the Center Console and replaced it with the New USB (No SD Card Reader). This was not an easy task. A special tool is needed to be able to remove the USB Port. I didn’t have that tool so I made my own. Removing the USB Port wasn’t the only hard part, the Wires were very short and hand space is very limited. Wish I could tell you some easy way to do this, but I don’t have an easy way, I just kept trying until I got it!

I now have CarPlay, not sure about Android Auto as I don’t have an Android, so no way to check it. It has taken me a while to get things figured out as I don’t drive much. I know I can Play Music, I have Apple Maps, Google Maps and Waze installed on top of having Factory Navigation (yes, factory navigation does work). Glad I got this all done before July 1st as the Laws in Indiana changed, you can no longer have a Cell Phone in your hand while driving. Doesn’t matter if your talking on the phone or trying to read/send a text. If you get pulled over you could receive a $500 ticket for the first offense! Anyway, I can now use Siri on my iPhone to read and send text for me using the cars newly updated system. Phone calls are a breeze too, they always have been but I now have Visual Access to my Contacts on the phone!
Wasn’t sure at first if this was a good investment, but so far so good, Great Job WAMS!
