SKU: GMED-REPLACEMENTIOR

Description

The IOR radio receiver is the mid-level infotainment system fitted to base and work trims of many 2018–2026 GM vehicles — GM calls it the “3.0 low HMI, mid-level connectivity radio infotainment system”, and you will see it badged as Chevrolet Infotainment 3 or the GMC Infotainment System. Common failures include a blank or black display, a frozen or unresponsive screen, scrambled graphics, and a unit that reboots or refuses to power up.

We supply the correct North American spec factory-new unit with full GM warranty for your application, pre-programmed to your VIN and ready for a simple plug-and-play self install — no dealer needed.

First: confirm you have IOR and not a CSM

The easiest way to tell is the App Shop. Every CSM sold in North America has it. IOR does not. If your home screen has an App Shop icon, you have a CSM and this is not the right part — see our Replacement CSM Module instead.

To be certain, scan the QR code on your driver door / B-pillar to pull up your RPO list, or check the SPID label in your glovebox. You can also try our RPO Lookup Tool for most 2022+ GM vehicles.

RPO code What it means
IOR This product. base radio, 7″ or 8″ screen, no App Shop
IOS, IOU, IOT CSM — a different system. This will not fit.
IOK CSM with Google built-in. This will not fit.
IOV CSM for 2021–2024 Escalade. This will not fit.
IOB, IO5, IO6 Different systems again. This will not fit.

Screen size does not matter

IOR was fitted with either a 7″ display (RPO UIR) or an 8″ display (RPO UIJ). The receiver part number is the same either way — the display is a separate component. You do not need to know which screen you have.

All-in-one screen assemblies

Some vehicles use IOR in a combined screen-and-receiver assembly rather than a separate receiver behind a separate display. That is a physically different part and this product does not fit it.

Chevrolet Traverse uses the all-in-one assembly for every IOR application. We do not currently sell it.

Chevrolet Trailblazer, Chevrolet Trax, Buick Encore GX and Buick Envista use the all-in-one assembly with the 7″ display, but a separate receiver with the 8″ display. We are adding those 8″ applications now. If you have one of these vehicles with an 8″ screen and it is not offered in the selector above, email us with your VIN and we will confirm the correct part and get it added.

The quickest way to tell which you have: an all-in-one unit is a single assembly with the screen bonded to it, and the 7″ screen sits in a smaller bezel. If you are unsure, send us the VIN.

How to order

Enter your VIN and we will identify your vehicle automatically. Then answer whatever the selector asks — for most vehicles that is only whether you have SiriusXM. If your vehicle only ever came with one configuration, we show the answer instead of asking.

You do not need to work out which generation of truck you have. For 2022 Silverado and Sierra 1500 the correct part depends on whether yours is a pre-refresh (2022.1, RPO J21) or refresh (2022.5, RPO J22) build, which we read directly from your VIN. That is why the VIN is required before we can confirm a part for those trucks.

What you are still responsible for is the RPO code. We cannot see your vehicle and we do not verify it. Check your label before ordering.

What this is — and what it is not

This is a direct factory-spec replacement programmed to the configuration your vehicle left the factory with, backed by the full GM parts warranty.

It is not an upgrade. It will not add SiriusXM, navigation, wireless CarPlay or any feature your vehicle did not already have. If your vehicle was built without satellite radio, the replacement will not have it either.

North American spec only. Export units are available on request — contact us for pricing.

Please have the vehicle professionally diagnosed by a GM dealer before ordering, as these are not returnable.

Please note: these are special order and subject to various lead times, though they generally fill within the posted processing time. Some 2019–2020 Camaro applications are supplied from remaining inventory on discontinued part numbers and may take longer. Because of how these are ordered, the 24-hour cancellation policy applies to backordered units as well.

Frequently asked questions

Q: How do I know whether I have IOR?
A: Look for the App Shop on your home screen. Every North American CSM has one; IOR does not. To confirm, scan the QR code on your driver door or B-pillar and look for IOR in the RPO list. If you see IOS, IOU, IOT, IOK or IOV instead, you have a CSM and need a different part.

Q: I have a 7″ screen — is that the same part as the 8″?
A: Yes. UIR is the 7″ display and UIJ is the 8″, but the receiver driving them is the same part number. The display is a separate component, so you do not need to know which one you have.

Q: Why does the selector only ask about SiriusXM?
A: For most vehicles that is the only thing that changes the part number. Everything else — screen size, climate control, trim — is the same receiver. A few vehicles need one more answer: 2019–2020 Camaro and 2020 Malibu also depend on whether the vehicle has active noise cancellation (RPO NKC).

Q: My selector is asking about my build date.
A: That applies to one configuration only — a 2020 Camaro with SiriusXM and without active noise cancellation. GM changed the design partway through the 2020 model year and the two versions are not interchangeable. Your build month and year are printed on the certification label in the driver’s door jamb.

Q: Will this add SiriusXM to my vehicle?
A: No. If your vehicle was built without satellite radio, the correct replacement is the non-satellite unit. Fitting the satellite version will not enable the service.

Q: I have a Trailblazer, Trax, Encore GX or Envista.
A: Those vehicles use an all-in-one screen-and-receiver assembly with the 7″ display, and a separate receiver with the 8″ display. This product covers the 8″ applications, which we are still adding. If yours is not in the selector above, email us your VIN and we will confirm the right part and add it.

Q: I have a Chevrolet Traverse.
A: Every IOR application on the Traverse is an all-in-one screen-and-receiver assembly, which is a different part. This product does not fit it and we do not currently sell the all-in-one version.

Q: Do these units come programmed?
A: Yes, pre-programmed to your VIN before shipping.

Q: Do I need to visit a dealer to install one?
A: No. The units are pre-programmed for simple plug-and-play replacement after disconnecting the battery.

Q: Is there a core charge? Do I have to return my faulty radio?
A: No and no. We do not have a core charge and do not require a core return, as we do not resell cores. Please recycle your old unit responsibly.

Q: I pulled a specific part number out of my vehicle. How do I match it?
A: You do not need to. These units were superseded often, so the number on your old unit does not necessarily match what ships today. Selecting your vehicle gets you the current part number for your application. The collapsible list above shows the numbers this radio replaces.

Q: The bag was opened when I received the unit.
A: Normal. Some of these come in sealed bags and we have to open them in order to program and test the unit.

Q: My unit said “NO VIN” when installed. Is that normal?
A: Yes. Assuming your vehicle is functioning correctly it will say that briefly at install and then go away for good. Some of these learn the vehicle VIN from the data bus at first power up and lock to it.

Q: My new unit mentioned demo mode, or said the vehicle must be sold.
A: Since these are new, the radio thinks it is in a vehicle that has not been sold yet. Press the choice indicating the vehicle has been sold at the initial boot screen. If you missed it, let the vehicle go fully to sleep with no key nearby for about 15 minutes, then start it and the menu will reappear.

Q: Will this fix the issue I am experiencing?
A: Any suspected radio failure should be diagnosed by a GM dealer before ordering. Several faults present like a radio failure without being one — a blank screen can be a display or a wiring fault rather than the receiver. We test every unit before shipping.
