So how does this work? First you must understand what your vehicle requires. This Radio (ACM) module is for HMI based infotainment vehicles ONLY, so check your RPO Label (Service Parts Identification), generally in the glove box or under the spare tire cover in the trunk. Your label must show IO5 or IO6. Nearly every vehicle listed below was also sold with a base radio, such as IO3, IOA or IOB. Those are all-in-one units with no separate module and this will not fit them, even though the home screen can look similar. Next you’ll need to identify which type of radio your vehicle currently has; Bose/Premium or Base. You cannot mix and match radios, if you have Bose/Premium you need the Bose radio if you don’t you need the Base Radio. You can tell which Radio style you need by using the label in the previous step. For RPO UQF/UQ3/UQ5 you need a BASE Radio for RPO UQA/UQG/UQS/UQH you need a BOSE Radio.

Once you have identified your audio type, enter your VIN. We read your model year from it and select the correct module automatically, so the only thing you choose is Base or Bose / Premium.

Installation is literally as simple as swapping out your existing radio for the new unit we will provide you; they will be plug and play. If you have an active XM radio subscription you will need to call XM and transfer your subscription to the new unit. You can find the new XM Radio on the unit itself or by tuning to channel 0 on the XM band after installation.

Each module is thoroughly tested end to end for full functionality on one of our dedicated test benches prior to shipping.

Q: What is an Audio Control Module (ACM)?
A: On GM vehicles with IO5 or IO6 infotainment, the radio is split into separate modules. The ACM is the radio itself: the tuner, the amplifier and the audio processing. A second module, the HMI, drives the screen. Because they are separate parts, a fault in one does not mean you need the other.

Q: How do I know if my ACM has failed?
A: Typical signs are no sound at all while the display still works, sound from some speakers only, the radio failing to power up, or a dead unit with a working screen. A GM dealer needs to diagnose it before you order, because several faults present the same way without being the ACM.

Q: How do I know whether my vehicle has an ACM?
A: Check your Service Parts Identification label, generally in the glove box or under the spare tire cover. It must show IO5 or IO6. If it shows a base radio code such as IO3, IOA or IOB, your vehicle has an all-in-one radio with no separate module and this will not fit.

Q: My screen works but there is no sound. Is that the ACM or the HMI?
A: Usually the ACM, because the screen is driven by the HMI and the audio by the ACM. A blank or frozen screen with working audio points the other way, to the HMI module. Have it diagnosed either way.

Q: How do I tell if I have Base or Bose audio?
A: Your RPO label tells you. UQF, UQ3 or UQ5 means Base. UQA, UQG, UQS or UQH means Bose or premium. You cannot mix the two; a Bose vehicle needs the Bose module.

Q: How do I order the right one?
A: Enter your VIN. We read your model year and select the correct module automatically. The only thing you choose is Base or Bose / Premium.

Q: Does it come programmed?
A: Yes, programmed to your VIN before shipping, including HD Radio and SiriusXM. Installation is a straight swap, plug and play, with no dealer visit needed.

Q: What happens to my SiriusXM subscription?
A: The new module has its own radio ID, so call SiriusXM and transfer your subscription. You can find the new ID on the unit itself or by tuning to channel 0 after installation.

Q: Is there a core charge? Do I send my old one back?
A: No and no. We do not have a core charge and do not require a core return. Please recycle your old module responsibly.

Q: My vehicle is a 2013 to 2015. Can you supply one?
A: Not through this listing at the moment. The modules here cover 2016 through 2020. Contact us with your VIN and we will check what is available for earlier years.

Q: I have a 2019 Silverado or Sierra 1500. Does this fit?
A: Only if yours is the 2019 Limited, the carry-over truck sold alongside the redesigned 2019. The new body style uses a different system. The VIN cannot tell the two apart, so please confirm which you have before ordering.

Q: Are these new or refurbished?
A: Brand new, with full GM warranty. Every module is tested end to end on our own bench before it ships.
